How was my tank rebuilt

Some background about why I rebuilt my tank:

• The main reason was that I was very tired of the gravel I had.
  I didn't like the color Black/Red/White and my fish didn't like it either, because it had sharp edged
• I also wanted to have gravel heating in my tank.
• Some laterite in the gravel wouldn't be bad either
• And some new plant, would be great to

The first thing I had to do, was to sell a few of my fish, because my tank was overcrowded.
But I will also buy a few new ones.
My wife wanted a little tank to, so we bought a 14 gal / 54 liter tank for her. Soon there will be a page about that tank to.
Mean while I used this tank to keep my fish in, and also the plants I took out of my tank.
Then I emptied my tank of water, and gravel. After that I clean the tank with normal clean water.

After the tank was emptied completely of water, I lay out my Duplaflex 300 100 watt gravel heater
First just to find out if it was long enough.

Then hold it in place with the use of anchors.

The next part was the worst, I had to clean 50 Kg of gravel (BORING).

About 1/3 of the gravel was mixed with Duplarit Also a tablet of root activator (was included in the package of Duplarit) was dissolved in water and mixed in to
First I laid the gravel over the heating cable, to make sure they wouldn't cross
The I did put in the rest of Duplarit mixed gravel in a even layer across the tank

Then the rest of gravel was put on top of the Duplarit gravel, with more gravel at the back, than in the front

Then it was time to add some water, to about 10 cm above the gravel
And also add some roots from the old tank

Before adding the first few plants, I added some water, around 10 cm. When pouring water into the tank, I did it onto an eating plate. To prevent the gravel from moving

Finally I could add the plants I wanted to keep from the old tank

And here is the final result. And I am sorry about the flashlight, but the Digital Camera couldn't disable the flash light
